This guide walks you through the steps to connect your company’s iQ account to Slack and start querying your data directly from your channels.
This document explains how to connect your Slack workspace to IQ and how to start using IQ inside Slack channels and direct messages once the integration is enabled.
Note for Saras team members' access on the Shared Channel
The Slack–iQ connection must be completed in the client’s own Slack workspace. Once connected, the client can add the iQ agent to the shared Slack channel with their Saras team, allowing Saras team members to also use iQ on the mutual channel, if needed.
Steps to Set Up the Integrations
2. Locate the Slack Integration and click Connect.
4. When your Slack admin opens this link, they will see an option to approve IQ in Slack.
The Slack admin must review the requested permissions and click Allow to authorize IQ for the workspace.
Once they allow access, the Slack–IQ setup is completed.
Start Using IQ in Slack
IQ is available for everyone in the connected Slack workspace.
You can:
1. Chat 1-on-1 with the IQ agent on Slack, or
2. You can add it to any channel
Chat 1-on-1 with the IQ agent: search for IQ app (agent) in Slack and start a direct message to chat.
To add IQ to any channel (private or public), add it just as you would add any other team member, then mention IQ (e.g., with @IQ) to invoke it and ask questions.
The questions you can ask depend on your configured datasets and context layers in IQ.
Removing IQ from a channel
Go to Agents and Apps and “Remove from this channel”. Or, in the channel, you can type /remove @iQ, then Send.
Disconnecting Slack
Go to Settings >> Click on Integrations >> Select Disconnect

Can I download data from Slack?
Yes. Use the Download data option available with each response. If you don’t see this option, reconnect your Slack integration.
What visualisations are supported in Slack?
Slack supports the following visualisations
- Line charts: Single-series, multi-series, and negative values
- Bar charts: Single-series, multi-series, and negative values
- Area charts: Single-series, multi-series, and negative values
- Pie charts: Single-segment, multi-segment, and dominant segment
Are there any restrictions on the visualisations shown on Slack?
Yes. Slack has the following limits:
- Charts: Up to 2 charts per message
- Series: Up to 12 series per chart
- Data points: Up to 20 data points per series
- Pie charts: Up to 12 segments
- Chart title: Up to 50 characters
- Series/segment names: Up to 20 characters
- Category/data-point labels: Up to 20 characters
- Table columns: Up to 20
- Table rows: Up to 200
- Table cell content: Up to 20,000 characters in total
Can I share the charts and tables with my team?
Yes. Each visualisation in Slack includes options to download the data and copy or share the visualisation.
